Solid carbide tooling is manufactured using micrograin carbide as standard, ground to a microfinish on state-of-the-art CNC grinding machines, and then surface coated in our Balzers PVD coating plant. | ||

| A general purpose coating widely used for cutting and forming tools in a variety of industrial applications. Excellant for drilling. TiN coated solid carbide drills can be ordered on request. | Best matched to solid carbide cutting tool substrate material for high demand high speed applications. XTREME is successfully employed under extreme conditions of hard machining (45-65 HRc). |
Physical Vapor Deposition or PVD, is a thin-film process which is applied under vacuum conditions. This process involves the generation of positively charged ions of various coating metals which react when the gas ions are introduced into the chamber to create various compositions. The parts being coated are given a negative bias in order to attract the positively charged ions. This results in a very strong mechanical bond between the coating and the tool. The process is carried out at relatively low temperatures which do not affect the original hardness of the tool. | ||||||
